Getting off to a good start with a new till: the first week

· 5 min read

The switch goes smoothly when it’s prepared for and supported. Here’s what a successful first week looks like.

Before: gathering your price list

Gather your current price list (paper, photo, or file) and flag any prices that will be changing soon. It’s the only real task on your side.

D-day: installation before opening

The hardware gets set up, the menu is already encoded, the VAT rates checked, and the quick-access buttons arranged to suit your habits. Allow two to three hours.

Training: one hour, hands-on

We ring up real sales together: cash payment, card, split payment, discount, cancellation, receipt. Everyone who works the till goes through each action at least once.

The first few days: fine-tuning

We move a button, add a forgotten item, refine a category. This is normal, it’s expected, and it’s included in support.

The first close

We do the first Z report together over the phone, if you like. After that, the routine settles into two minutes each evening.

Follow-up

One call after a week, another after a month. And for a full year, you can call as soon as any question comes up.
